The estate original was part of the Lafite estate. Belonging to Marquis Nicolas de
Ségur, president of the Bordeaux Parlement and also owner of Latour, Calon-Ségur and
Phélan-Segur.
In the middle of the 1800th century the estate was divided and this part came to belong to
the de Brane family. Baron Hector de Brane together with his neighbour Armand d'Armailhacq
introduced the Cabernet Sauvignon to Médoc.
The estate at this time was named Château Brane-Mouton.
1830 Hecot de Brane sold the estate to M. Thuret.

Nathaniel belonged to the English branch of the Rothschild family.
1855 In the classification the Château was ranked highest among the second grand crus.
After 118 years the Château was lifted up the 1er Grand ru.

estate.

Petit-Mounton.

1922 Henri handed over the estate to his son, Baron Philippe (20 years old). Baron
Philippe started trying to get the Château into the Premier Grand Cru.

long Grand Chai.

company in Pauillac. This company produces Mouton Cadet.
1934 On each bottle the exact number of bottles for that year is printed on the labels.

designed by a new artist (except 1953).

"Musée de Vin", located in an old cellar and filled with art connected to the
wine. The museum holds ancient drinking vessels, goblets, tapestries and

Rothschild took over.

Château's all over Bordeaux. Bottles from the own estate goes back to 1859 (a collection
